Freedom for Christian Women Coalition Part Two

Posted by Hannah at 10:09 AM

I have to admit it wasn't until I was adult did I ever hear the term, 'headship'.  I think we all heard the term 'head' in the bible, but as far as I know?  No mention of this title some like to use.

The last time I wrote I spoke about Freedom for Christian Women Coalition  , and the letter they had sent to Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood.

I wanted to take a couple of points, and today I will start
points 2-4 that were listed in the letter.

we are concerned about the sin that evangelical church leaders commit when they deny the love of Christ fully to women simply because they were born female;

we are concerned about the damage this causes to families when husbands and fathers are told that they have Headship over their wives and daughters;

we are concerned about wife abuse, girlfriend abuse, and abuse to female children that takes place in many homes where evangelical men are taught that they have earthly and spiritual authority over women;

I realize there will be screams from the mountain tops that the bible says the man is the head of the wife.  This group isn't looking to be the 'head', but is talking more on how this 'role' is presented.

The response about taking over the 'head' position is part the attitude that being taught, when in truth they are trying to point to an unChristlike attitude.  To me it almost seems like a brainwashing technique when the response is something along the lines of trying to take over the authority that Christ gave men.   The loving and humble leadership would listen instead of jumping to conclusions.

Freedom for Christian Women Coalition seem to be trying to bring up some concerns they have ran into, and have dealt with the past.

You see how people are programed to respond to such concerns.  It certainly doesn't show the humble and loving attitude they claim to teach.  They have bottleneck, and the parroted responses they are taught to use are coming from somewhere!  If it isn't this organization and their teachings?  They need to address it, because their supporters are running with it big time.  It should show them there is a problem.

If you look at the responses to the article that I linked to above? You will see the attitude I'm speaking of.  The Freedom for Christian Women Coalition concerns are minimized or accused of something that clearly isn't present.

I think that is what bothers me most is the cynical attitude, name calling, diverting, and a show of complete disrespect of others that have been trying to get a message across for some time.  It also sounds like since they are ignored felt led to the to write the letter in question.

There is the Christlike approach to such concerns, and then there are the 'champions for their cause' approach.  Below I have copied three just to give you an idea of the attitude the letter is speaking of.  There is no loving, humble characteristic shown, and that is what they are trying to bring awareness to:

I know this is going to be a great shock to these feminists, but some of us don't feel we have to apologize for doing what is right. - Ken
Build with straw, then strike a match and enjoy the fire. It's about that easy to build a straw-man argument, and this article, along with the first respondent, do this with the skill that pervades egalitarianism. The real shame is that it is dishonest and immoral. And what is at the heart of it? The heart of the problem is women who have taken their eyes off the cross in favor of whining for positions within the church that God has forbidden.

Caveat emptor,

Steve Giese

There have always been people who love traditional family and this will never change. If anything, this is a feather in Biblical Manhood and Womanhood's cap. Such criticism only shows how successful they have truly been in shaping minds and churches. Liberals cannot win the argument theologically with the scriptures. As a result, they must use sad stories which are straw men. No Bible believing Christian supports abuse. To say otherwise is a lie. - KT2005

Its the spirit behind the teachings that brings these types of comments to the surface.

Its not feminism, or liberal thinking, and people not wishing to LOVE the traditional family.

If you read enough of the articles on CBMW website these are the scare tactics they seem to support.  It shuts down all dialog, and maybe that is the purpose.  Maybe they don't see it?  I hope they stop long enough, before responding in the fluffy manner they are known for!

They aren't man haters, because if the cynics bothered to look up any of the women involved in the statement they might be surprised to find how many have been faithfully married for some time.  They might be surprised at how much they stand up for the truth of the gospel.

They will never see that due to the list of red flags CBMW sets up.  That is the an aspect they are asked to look at, and have been asked for quite a while.   You would think this is a new concern, but it hardly is the case.  CBMW know this as well.

Why is it that people are taught to jump to conclusions, but the humble, loving nature that some organizations claim they teach doesn't come across when their supporters represent them?  To me it shows they are busy fighting some war, and their approach seems to have errors.  Christ did not teach men to mud sling, but to show a Christlike attitude when disagreements are present.

It you stop to think about the comments from these men?  Ask yourself how they must respond to their 'helpmeet' request to listen if they feel they are wronged, or have a concern!  Does this represent the loving and humble leadership that they claim they teach?  Sadly, you see this script presented pretty often.  It doesn't open any dialog, or any sense of wishing to reconcile.

As I mentioned last time they acknowledge the cause and effect of life, but spend to much effort dealing with the effect more than the cause.  I used the example of plumbing and how when it leaks it causes damage to flooring and cabinets bathroom.  They spend to much time dealing with the wet and damaged parts, and the leak itself is almost a side note.

They tend to blame feminism, and that tends to lead to how women are not appreciating the role that God has given them.  They don't respect the authority of their husbands, and how they want it all!

"The Fall introduced distortions into the relationships between men and women." This is then expanded as follows: "In the home, the husband's loving, humble headship tends to be replaced by domination or passivity . . . . In the church, sin inclines men toward a worldly love of power or an abdication of spiritual responsibility". - The Council of Biblical Manhood and Womanhood

When you have someone that inclined to use their lust for power?  Why would they feel its a good thing to push this 'headship' the way they do?  Remember in Proverbs what it says about such concepts:

Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits.

Men will look for that justification, because their way is PURE in their eyes!  Instead of looking to feminism?  How women are wanting to TAKE Over, and all the rest of the nonsense?  Please remove the paranoia teachings, and remember:

Proverbs 29:2 When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.

Lastly, I wanted to place out one last bit of scripture.  To me it shows the attitude that should be present when speaking of 'authority'.

John 19:10 Then Pilate said to Him, “Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?”

11 Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”

Don't forget the authority that some seem to like others to be reminded of?  I'm sure God would wish you to have the same knowledge that Jesus reminded Pilate of.  You have no power unless it is given to you from above.

When using that authority I think God would wish you to always have that in mind.  Sadly, Freedom for Christian Women Coalition is trying to show you they don't see it.   They are telling you they see entitlement instead.    I pray that you listen instead of approaching it as a group of silly women.

Ask yourself how God would approach this, and leave out the parroted paranoia.  You should wish reconciliation, and not give license to others to respond like your above supporters.  The responses are what they are hearing, whether or not you claim that is what you teach.

Cui bono?

Who benefits from more than half of the Body of Christ being told to be silent and not speak The Word of God? Yahweh God or Satan?

Definition:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cui bono ("To whose benefit?", literally "as a benefit to whom?", a double dative construction) is a Latin adage that is used either to suggest a hidden motive or to indicate that the party responsible for something may not be who it appears at first to be.
